Awareness in Life
Hello beautiful ones! I meant to get something out sooner, but my 10 year old computer decided she was done. So, I am typing on my brand spanking new girlfriend and I am so happy. Writing anything was taking me forever and the spinning ball of death frequented my page way too often. 10 years is a good long ride, and I am grateful for her years of service.
So this update is a short one. I wanted to give you a short practice to work with. I have been talking a lot lately about awareness, and so I thought I would give you something to try and work with in the real world. BUT FIRST…
On my mind lately…
I just finished watching this new show, Survival of The Thickest and I LOVED it! Mavis (main character) is starting over and learning about shining her brightest self. We can all get on board with that! It showcases some of my favorites — Black women, Drag Queens, fashion and LOVE! It’s on Netflix and is only 8 episodes, funny and sweet perfection. Check it out (2 snaps and a twirl- IYKYK).
On the food front, I can’t get enough of Trader Joe’s Smoked Trout! It’s canned y’all and delicious and healthy and cheap and easy to make a meal of. Go get you some!
My friend and creatrix, Sarah Ratermann Beahan has a wonderful new offering - Creatology. I can’t begin to tell you how being able to create these last few months has helped me in a multitude of ways — mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. If you are looking for a way to step into play, check out her program.
Lesson from Mother Nature
It occurred to me on a recent hike how different my hikes have been from last year - namely the places I have been hiking and how they look this year as compared to last year. When I arrived in July of 2022, everything here was kinda dead - the grasses, trees, not many flowers. I had to feed the horses hay twice a day because the pasture was dead. This year is completely different. Everywhere I look it is green and the wildflowers are so numerous, I actually go into the pasture and cut some to bring inside the house. The horses are happily grazing in the pasture all day. What changed, well I wasn’t here in 2021 but I heard that there wasn’t much of a winter. Last winter, was rough! At one point, I was snowed in for 4 days. The snow stayed on the ground well into March! The temps were so cold and I was uber grateful for my insulated overalls! Because of the extremely cold and hard winter, we have this amazing summer — and it is SO beautiful. Life can be that way. I learned a lot this past winter on how to care for myself and horses during the winter. I also learned a great deal about dealing with life. As I wintered this winter, I gave birth to some beautifulness in my own life. Transformation is rarely easy and pretty. Sometimes, we must weather the hardness and the rough days to find and to see clearly, the beauty.
OK, so let’s get at it. This is a short exercise and I would invite you to enter into it with lightness and playfulness. Let me know your thoughts in the comments - what you noticed about yourself as you practice. Then, take it for a spin in the real world and don’t forget to laugh at yourself when you notice what you notice.
I hope your days are filled with loveliness, your heart full of joy, and your soul full of ease and remember — Seek magic and you will find joy!
Blessings and Love,
Candace
Awareness Practice

Okay, first of all Survival of the Thickest is amazing! Already watching a second time because it’s giving.
Winter be wintering but so glad that your pasture is coming to life and the greenery lush and vibrant. Summer where I am is dangerously hot and so has my relationships been. Sometimes too hot to touch. And that’s okay. Now I can name my needs.
Thank you for the audio. The jaw movement is always necessary as I’m a clincher. This moment of practice was nice. I’ve been inconsistent this week and you brought me back.
